It took nine months of our lives but finally my band, Stitchthread, finally released our brand new album Signal Has Been Lost.

The music industry is in something of a transitionary period, with cheaper, purely digital content taking a much greater priority over conventional formats such as vinyl, tapes and CDs.

With this in mind, we decided on a dual-release: the digital release of the album, available on our Bandcamp page in a variety of high-quality file formats, was to be made completely free to download. But we also ran a Limited Edition physical release as well, painstakingly planned and designed by myself, and with extra content available to download for those who purchase it at just five English Pounds.

I wanted to keep the design clean, classy and simple because I wanted to let the imagery speak to people. Stitchthread guitarist Andrew Hellebrand took photographs of the Inskip Masts; capturing their towering and unsettling presence against an English countryside, silently communicating and relaying. It was the perfect imagery for the story of our album.

The album was set in a 3½ x 3½ grid, using Stitchthread’s typeface of choice Novecento for the headers along with ITC Caslon for the sub-headers and body copy.
